Seller Spotlight: Geeky Wanderlust

Welcome to the third edition of the Seller spotlight – a chance to take a peek into the lives of our makers and collectors and find out what motivates them. We hope you are enjoying the feature as much as we are! Please do share the posts of each seller and remember to support small businesses.

Our third feature goes to Tara and her shop Geeky Wanderlust. Tara lives in Birmingham and loves to travel, this inspires her with everything and she makes jewellery, posters, and cards created from her love of vintage and travel.

What motivated you to start your Etsy shop?

I started to make a few items for myself and my friends and it went on from there. I realised that there were other people like me who would appreciate my designs too and Geeky Wanderlust was born. I began with cards, posters, photography and fabric bunting. Then I learned how to make jewellery at a hen party and decided to add this to my resume. I created travel and vintage themed jewellery which are now my most popular items!

What is your favourite product and Why?

I love the Ganesh earrings. I have a colourful Ganesh tattoo and love the meaning behind this deity. Wisdom and overcoming obstacles. I wear my own pair of Ganesh earrings quite often 🙂

What inspires you creatively?

Travel is definitely my biggest inspiration. It is what I am passionate about and most of the items I sell are based around the travel theme.

What advice would you give to someone starting an Etsy shop?

Take your time and don’t expect too much too soon. I think carefully selected key words and photographing products well are a good places to start.

I completed my advanced diploma in photography which has not only helped me to create new photographs to sell but has helped me with product photography too!
