Etsy Local – First Team Event

At Christmas we took part in our first Etsy Local selling event in Digbeth, Birmingham’s Creative Quarter. Our venue, the Custard Factory invited us to sell at Digmas their annual Christmas event, alongside sellers from B2B Vintage. With so many reasons to be excited we promoted Etsy, our shops and the team.

Etsy Made Local is a celebration of unique and creative design and craft, fabulous vintage and supplies – all with the added bonus of being offered by local sellers. Etsy Made Local organised a national event taking place across the UK on 5th and 6th of December. IDEAS Birmingham hosted their very own event on Saturday 5th December.

Our Etsy Local event showcased the creative endeavours of our diverse and exciting IDEAS Birmingham team members. Being part of Digmas enabled us to provide the perfect place to buy unusual and alternative Christmas gifts. Stocking Fillers, stationery and ceramics; felting, and both fine and fashion jewellery; décor, decals and design.  We had all this and more, and we even had eco-friendly fabric gift wrap to wrap it all up in!

Wendy from HappyWrap was our clicker for the day, recording the footfall and being very careful not to count the same people twice.  As many browsers came back more than once, ducking away to quickly buy gifts for the people they arrived with, it was great that she was so diligent. With a steady stream of shoppers throughout the day she counted 800 people.

Quite a few of the prospective shoppers that couldn’t buy on the day took business cards feeling safe in the knowledge that there was still time to order online before the big day. I myself had a little flurry of local sales in the following days.

For the people that were unfamiliar with Etsy & IDEAS Birmingham our fabulous volunteers Lottie from Simply Charlotte B and Amy Winner, one half of Lovely Little Touch were on hand to explain about our amazing community.  Anyone that signed up for our mailing list will be receiving an update from us shortly.

If you wee unable to attend here are some of the crafts we had on display in the Etsy Local Market. EML Christmas Market – Digmas
