This year we are bringing your more opportunities to buy handmade than ever with our Etsy Made Local – Birmingham New Street Winter Market.
We are creating a little haven of handmade just a few steps away from the bustling German Market. Starting on 3rd December 2019 and running until 22nd December we will be bringing a range of handmade crafts all created by local designer-makers.

Hello, my name is Yu and my Etsy shop is based in a home studio in Birmingham.
What will you be bringing to sell at the Etsy Made Local event?
I’ll bring along my collection of handmade small items for everyday use, all using Liberty Art Fabric. Range from bags, to cushion covers, to notebooks, necklaces etc, I’d love to interpret the most beautiful traditional English fabric into practical daily items.
What is your favourite of your Etsy Made Local products?
I love what I’ve made but I have many favourite EML products from our fellow artists and makers!
What do you love most about buying handmade gifts from indy makers?
I even know the person who made the gift I bought and that’s amazing. It’s such a personal gift now, not just from a mass-production factory line. It’s always been made using the best material, the caring craftsmanship, and a devoted heart to craft.

My name is Dayz and I live in Birmingham
What will you be bringing to sell at the Etsy Made Local event?
I will be bringing retro and geeky Christmas decorations along with pins and earrings with a geeky theme. All of my earrings have sterling silver earring posts. I will also be bringing some tongue-in-cheek prints and period positive wooden pins.
What is your favourite of your Etsy Made Local products?
My favourite product will be my cassette tape decorations as shown on my Instagram account.
What do you love most about buying handmade gifts from indy makers?
Handmade gifts seem a lot more personal. They also seem more timeless and not likely to be a passing phase or fad. Something worth keeping for years ahead.

Handmade character Christmas cards, knitted scarves, cushions and crocheted flower corsages, framed handmade silk paper pictures with embroidered flowers and British coastal birds and framed pen drawings and prints as well as a few other treasures.
What is your favourite of your Etsy Made Local products?
My Highland Cow card – It was what inspired me to start up my Etsy shop and it’s good at bringing smiles to people’s faces.
What do you love most about buying handmade gifts from indy makers?
Knowing that they are doing a happy dance because you have brought something that they designed and made. I love the range of creations and products that are not mass-produced and because of this the uniqueness and character that shines through.

Crocheted placemats, coasters, eco-friendly face scrubbies and face cloths. There will also be super soft infinity scarves, a variety of hats & headbands, fingerless gloves and hot water bottle covers. All of the above are handmade in fabulous colours from premium yarns.

The individual care that goes into every item and the fact that you are supporting someone’s dream.

Oil burners, incense holders, glasses holders and ornaments which have been made from excess plaster of paris in other moulds to minimise waste.
What is your favourite of your Etsy Made Local products?
My double hand oil burner, it’s one of my best sellers so I think it’s other people’s favourite too!
What do you love most about buying handmade gifts from indy makers?
They’re so different. You can buy some really individual pieces that you just can’t find anywhere else. Indy makers pour their heart and soul into their products, and it shows in the finished design.

What a difficult choice. I have a few large mosaic wall pieces that I am very attached to, simply because of the time they took to make but I do equally love my little hearts. I like all of my work..that’s why I make it.
What do you love most about buying handmade gifts from indy makers?
I buy handmade as I love to buy unique and interesting pieces. Handmade items are special, they are usually one off’s and show the makers personality. Giving handmade gifts is far more rewarding and shows more thought and care.

I will be showcasing examples of my personal family portraits created using both watercolour and digital media with the opportunity to order your own just in time for Christmas. I will also be bringing my own range of prints as well as my Christmas Range which includes letter to Santa Kits, Cards and Badges. My stall will also be stocked with my Read Wrap Recycle Newspaper, a newspaper which is intended as an eco friendly gift wrap for the festive season.
What is your favourite of your Etsy Made Local products?
My favourite has to be my Portraits, its wonderful to be able to create entirely bespoke items for each and every one of my customers.

Not only am I supporting someone’s dream, the products are always made with such care you know you are receiving something super special, and this is what makes them such wonderful gifts.
